Marvel Spiderman

 Introduction

Marvel Spider-Man is an action-adventure video game created by Insomniac Games and published by PlayStation only available on PS4, PC and PS5 (in remastered). Marvel Spider-Man presents the adventures of a Peter Parker who has been wearing the wall-crawler suit for a few years. We have before us a hero with a lot of experience, more than famous, and who begins to seek a stable life despite continuing to have great power and great responsibility.

History

The game presents us with a story divided into three Acts:

Act I

At the beginning of the game, Peter Parker / Spider-Man helps police captain Yuri Watanabe to finally arrest Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, after making a new suit, he discovers that stopping Kingpin was rather counterproductive, since he kept the rest of the gangs under control, so there are many more crimes in the city and one is the Demons,  who try to steal something called the Devil's Breath,Taking an archive from a museum, Peter is reunited with his ex-girlfriend Mary Jane Watson, also discovers that Fisk's construction sites continue to smuggle weapons and drugs and decides to close them violently.

Meanwhile, in his work for Dr. Otto Octavius, he tries to create prosthetics for people whose limbs were amputated, however, Norman Osborn, director of Oscorp and mayor of New York, he takes away all his work, creating a great hatred on the part of Octavius towards him. Spider-Man discovers that Herman Schultz/Shocker works for the Demons and defeats him while trying to rob a bank, and also that they are attacking Fisk's works, and is supported by officer Jefferson Davis. 

Officer Davis tells Spider-Man that there are Demons killing Fisk's men, and goes over there to stop them, suddenly, Fisk contacts one of his men by phone and Spider-Man asks him who the leader of the Demons is, Fisk tells him to keep his men alive and maybe tell him. After doing so, Fisk simply says that the leader could be on the roof, there, a helicopter ends up out of control and Spider-Man barely manages to save the people below and stop all the Demons, without finding the leader. At Officer Davis' awards ceremony, Osborn is threatened by phone and escorted away. Right after, the Demons attack, killing many people, including Davis, Peter only gets to see the real boss, Martin Li, the director of F.E.A.S.T., where Aunt May works.

Act II

A week later, Peter tries to convince Yuri that Li is Mister Negative, and infiltrates a Demons base to search for evidence, and finds a map of the Demons' warehouses, which must be removed. Upon leaving, Silver Sable and his men catch Spider-Man, but he is saved by Yuri. Peter goes to F.E.A.S.T. to search Li's office for information, once inside, he finds a letter saying that May can continue in F.E.A.S.T., since he cannot, a recording in which he says that "the demon" is consuming him, and the museum's Devil's Breath archive. When he leaves, Li appears and sends some men to kill Peter, who is easily released.

At a dinner with MJ, she tells him that she infiltrated a Tombstone base, and discovered that she worked for Li, Peter gives her a device so that the next time she infiltrates somewhere, she can do better, however, an alert from Charles Standish, the CFO of Oscorp, sounds on the radio. Spider-Man goes there and saves him from the Demons, Standish tells him that they were looking for financial reports from the Devil's Breath, and that they are now going after Dr. Issac Delaney, giving it to Sable. Yuri then calls Spider-Man for a suspicious box on a roof, it turns out to be from Taskmaster, who put bombs on the roofs, he manages to defuse them, and discovers that there is more around the city.

MJ tells Spider-Man that Dr. Delaney is at a Halloween party at ESU, after defeating some Demons, Mister Negative appears, controls Delaney's mind to tell him who he worked with in the Devil's Breath, Dr. Morgan Michaels, then causes him to commit suicide. Spider-Man infiltrates Oscorp to search the Devil's Breath in the database, and discover that it was originally a cure for diseases but went wrong and is highly contagious, only Dr. Michaels has a sample.

MJ infiltrates a Sable base to talk to Standish, and he tells her that the Demons will attack Grand Central Station, Spider-Man appears, she gets angry with him for being too overprotective and doesn't tell him about Grand Central.

Meanwhile, at work, Octavius has not given up hope and at one point urgently calls Peter to come to work, Otto has created a neural interface to control four extra robotic tentacles, and reveals to Peter that he has a neurodegenerative condition, and that he will lose his motor functions soon, plus that the neural interface could affect his mind and personality. Peter meets Miles Morales, Davis' son, who is starting to work at F.E.A.S.T., however, he decides to go watch that Sable can protect Dr. Michaels, but no, the Demons attack and kidnap him, Spider-Man fights Mister Negative and saves Michaels, but they left with the Devil's Breath.

Mister Negative attacks Grand Central and takes several hostages, including MJ, and threatens Osborn to go there or he will kill them all with the Devil's Breath. Spider-Man kills several Demons while MJ deactivates the biological weapon. Spider-Man fights Mister Negative and defeats him on a train, which ends up out of control and manages to stop as well. Peter goes with Octavius, who has already built robotic arms connected to his body through the neural interface, which further arouses his hatred in Osborn. Peter sees on television that Saber's truck carrying the Devil's Breath was attacked and vandalized.

Yuri appears in a helicopter and tells Spider-Man that the Ryker Island prison was attacked and there was an escape, Spider-Man stops some prisoners from escaping, but then The Raft is attacked as well, upon arrival, Electro attacks the helicopter, Spider-Man saves Yuri and chases Electro around the prison, stopping several prisoners along the way. On the roof, Electro, Vulture, Rhino, Scorpion and Mister Negative surround him and subdue him, so that then Otto Octavius with his arms and now known as Doctor Octopus also arrives and reveals himself to be responsible for the leaks and the boss of the Sinister Six, warning Spider-Man not to get in his way before throwing him into the sea. Spider-Man is found by Yuri and taken to a hospital. Doctor Octopus goes to town and releases the Devil's Breath, infecting most of the population, including Yuri and Aunt May. Spider-Man was branded a criminal by Osborn and blamed for the leaks.

Act III

The next day, Spider-Man, with 14 broken bones still, notices that two distinct locations are being attacked at the same time, Electro and the Demons attacking a series of transformers on the rooftops, and Rhino and the fugitive prisoners attacking the police station. Spider-Man destroys the transformers and stops the fugitives and Sable's agents, who attacked Spider-Man instead of the villains.

Aunt May calls Peter and tells him that the fugitives attacked the veterans center, with her, MJ, and Miles inside. Spider-Man saves them and almost dies in the fire, but is saved by his friends. Spider-Man puts together a plan, MJ searches for a cure for Devil's Breath, Miles watches over F.E.A.S.T. and prevents him from being attacked again, and he finds out Octopus' plans and defeats the Sinister Six.

Spider-Man goes to Times Square and finds an Octopus lair, where he sees the motivations of each villain, and a plan to completely wipe out Osborn, Electro will attack Oscorp's power plants, Rhino will attack supplies, Scorpion will poison the water reservoir, Vulture will do something in Times Square, Mister Negative will steal the Devil's Breath anti-serum, and Octopus will attack Oscorp, but Peter falls into a booby trap, Spider-Man gets out of there before the explosion, but is caught by Vulture and taken to the power plants with Electro. Spider-Man manages to defeat the two and then leaves to take a nap on a roof.

The next morning, Spider-Man goes after Scorpion, but he was a trap and is injected by him, leading him to a series of hallucinations until he manages to heal himself. Miles had infiltrated a Sable base for drugs for F.E.A.S.T., as they refuse to give them to him, but he ends up running away from Rhino. Spider-Man appears and causes Rhino and Scorpion to fight each other and end up defeating each other alone.

MJ infiltrates Osborn's penthouse, evading Sable's agents, discovering Li's past, specifically how he became Mister Negative and that it was Osborn's fault, also that his childhood friend Harry Osborn, Norman's son, is not in Europe as they believed, but is sick and the Devil's Breath was a cure for that,  But it didn't work out well, and the location of the secret laboratory of the GR-27 (the Devil's Breath), then jumps off the balcony and is caught by Spider-Man.

Mister Negative arrives at the location of the laboratory and kidnaps Osborn and Michaels, Spider-Man allies with Silver Sable and the former manages to enter the laboratory. Spider-Man defeats Li and retrieves the anti-serum, however, Doctor Octopus appears and defeats Spider-Man brutally, stealing the anti-serum and taking Osborn away.

Sable and Michaels take Spider-Man to F.E.A.S.T. to save him, where Miles is, Michaels manages to save his life. Spider-Man leaves to stop Octavius. A genetically modified spider that had stayed in MJ's jacket bites Miles. Peter goes to Octavius' lab and creates a new suit.

Doctor Octopus takes Osborn to the Oscorp Tower, and throws him, Spider-Man saves him and fights intensely with Octavius, Octavius reveals that he knew Peter was Spider-Man, Octopus corners him and destroys the web shooters, Peter disables the neural interface and disables his arms, saves the anti-serum and harshly abandons Octavius until the police arrive.

Spider-Man goes to F.E.A.S.T. with Dr. Michaels, his Aunt May is very sick and won't make it in the morning, however, the anti-serum only has one dose, and replicating it takes a few hours, but if they cure one person, they won't be able to cure anyone else. Peter makes the terrible decision to save everyone or his aunt, and mourns her death. Three months later, the city is back to "normal," and Peter and MJ are dating again.

In a scene between credits, Miles reveals to Peter that he now has Spider-Man's powers, so Peter reveals that he is Spider-Man. In a post-credits scene, Norman Osborn, who is no longer the mayor, enters a secret laboratory in his penthouse, where he has Harry in a containment tank with a viscous black substance, in which he will remain until a cure is found for his condition.

Gameplay

Spider-Man is an open-world action-adventure video game with a third-person perspective set in a modern New York City. The player mostly controls Spider-Man in his role as a superhero, although at certain times he can also play with Peter Parker as a civilian and with Mary Jane in infiltration situations. The game features a varied combat system that allows Spider-Man to execute punch combinations, both at ground level and on the ground  Air, use elements of the environment such as throwing projectiles and make definitive movements to defeat enemies. He also has his arachnid sense, an ability that warns him of nearby dangers allowing him the ability to react, dodge and defend himself. ​In addition, it has a series of gadgets such as a drone that launches electric webs and serves as a distraction, bombs that explode and send cobwebs to nearby enemies leaving them incapacitated for a few moments, or mines that immobilize enemies against a wall or the ground.

The player can freely roam the city using the superhero's cobwebs, run and climb walls to access high places, or use the underground as a fast travel method.

Downloadable content

The game has an expansion called The City that Never Sleeps, which is made up of three DLCs that were released on different dates after its release. The names of the contents are The Heist, Turf Wars and Silver Lining.

The first DLC, The Heist, premiered on October 23, 2018 and added new missions, challenges, a faction of enemies, and three alternate costumes to unlock. The plot revolves around some mysterious clues that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, leaves scattered around the city during the main campaign of the game and that Spider-Man discovers, to finally meet in the additional content.

The second DLC, Turf Wars, was released on November 20, 2018. In this expansion, Spider-Man must intervene and stop a turf war between the criminal organization Maggia and the villain Hammerhead. New story missions, bases, crimes, challenges, and trophies were added, as well as three new costumes for Spider-Man.

The third DLC, Silver Lining, was released on December 21, 2018. In this episode, Silver Sable reappears on the scene and reclaims the technology that was stolen from Sable International. New York Police Chief Yuri Watanabe is on administrative leave as a result of the fight against Hammerhead, and Spider-Man must rely on unexpected allies to keep the city safe.
